What is Science Olympiad?
Science Olympiad is a team of 18 students and 5 alternates who love to solve challenges in science, technology, engineering, and math. The team designs, builds, and tests projects and conducts extensive research on various science topics. On February 3, 2018, we will compete at the regional level at Southeast Raleigh High School. Any teams who place at this competition will move on to the state competition at NC State April 20-21, 2018.

Who Can Join?
We will have one varsity science olympiad team for the 2017-2018 school year comprised of 18 students and 5 alternates. For state competitions, only 18 students can participate. More information on the selection process will come when we begin choosing the varsity team in November.
Who helps us prepare?
Ms. Argall is head coach of the science olympiad team with Ms. Connors, Ms. Reese, Ms. Lewis, and Ms. Bibbs serving as assistant coaches. Parents may also help coach. Students will attend after school meetings with coaches to begin preparing for your assigned event. While we realize and encourage students to participate in extra curricular activities, joining Science Olympiad is like playing a sport and requires just as much of a time commitment. We expect participants to put science olympiad first. Students must maintain a B or better in all classes to remain on the Science Olympiad team.
Parents are important!
Parent support is vital to the success of Science Olympiad. Parents are expected to provide supplies for their child's events, monitor event progress, and help at competitions. In addition, the team welcomes parent volunteers with strengths in events to help prepare students.
